Call to Worship

Pastor: Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!

People: Worthy are you, our Lord and God to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.

Pastor: Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory!

People: Our help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.

Hymn of Repentance Psalm 51 “Have Mercy on Me” (hymn of the month)

Prayer of Confession

Almighty and most merciful Father; We have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep. We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts. We have offended against your holy laws. We have left undone those things which we ought to have done; And we have done those things which we ought not to have done; And there is no health in us.

O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable offenders. Spare those, O God, who confess their faults. Restore those who are penitent, According to your promises declared unto mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord. Have mercy upon us, most merciful Father; For your Son our Lord Jesus Christ’s sake, Forgive all that is past; And grant that we may ever hereafter Serve and please you in newness of life, To the honor and glory of your Name; Through Jesus Christ our Lord, who taught us to pray, Our Father…

Declaration of Pardon (from Revelation 4-5)

Pastor: Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! For through his blood he ransomed people for God, from every tribe and language and people and nation, and he has made us a kingdom and priests to our God, and we shall reign on the earth.

People: Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing.

All: To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever! Amen.

Communion

(We use wine as the element commanded by our Lord Jesus Christ. We provide grape juice in the outer ring for those who conscientiously abstain from wine)

Prayer of Thanksgiving

Heavenly Father, we offer you eternal praise and thanks that you have granted so great a benefit to us poor sinners, having drawn us into the Communion of your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, whom you have delivered to death for us, and whom you have given us as the meat and drink of eternal life. Now grant us this other benefit: that you will never allow us to forget these things; but having them imprinted on our hearts, may we grow and increase daily in the faith which is at work in every good deed. Thus may we order and pursue all our life to the exaltation of your glory and the edification of our neighbor, through the same Jesus Christ, your Son, who in the unity of the Holy Spirit lives and reigns with you, O God, forever. Amen.
